The United Nations Climate Change Conference (cop16) is held at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort since November 29 to december 10, 2010. This International event Meets Ministers & Presidents from diferent countries that proposed various measures to reduce the emission of gases and reduce the global impact of climate change in the world. Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, President of México inaugurated this conference companied by Simona Gómez López, Representative of Indigenous Mexican People and Patricia Espinosa, Secretary of Foreign affairs of México and José Mario Molina, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1995.
President Calderon said that humanity has made mistakes not taking care of the planet, and that it is humanity who must solve the problem so that the next generations do not suffer the consequences of the changes that the world is suffering. Felipe Calderon added that the humanity has felt the results of climate change such as hurricanes; floods and drought during the last years and the less fortunate have been the most affected. About this, he said, “the breach between climate change and poverty can be closed with sustainable development”.
