Fun and traditions at Palace Resorts

Many holidays  take place during the month of October and early November, halloween is celebrated in the US and Canada, and now has extended to many other parts of the world. In Mexico we have our own celebration called the day of the dead which actually celebrates the life…
The legacy of past civilizations is graphically manifested on this occasion through people’s beliefs that death is a transition from one life to another in different levels where communication exists between the living and the dead.In rural Mexico, people visit the cemetery where their loved ones are buried. Gravesites are decorated with marigold flowers and candles.  People bring toys for dead children and bottles of tequila or cigarretes to adults and sit on picnic blankets next to gravesites and eat the favorite food of their loved ones.
Ofrendas (tributes) are set up on a table covered with a tablecloth and papel picado.  They are decorated with sugar skulls, candles, cempasuchil flowers, and paper mache skeletons. Plates with the favorite foods of their dead relatives are also set on the ofrenda. The belief is that the relative returns to the house for only one day and the family set up the ofrenda so their dead relatives can enjoy their favourite food, drink, etc once a year. In Palace Resorts day of the dead means, costumes, traditions, colours and LIFE! Join us during October 31, November 1st and 2nd to see how this celebrations take place in Palace Resorts. We will be posting the activities soon!
